About Us
What Is beyond the rail?
OUR mission
a home for the Soul of the scene
Beyond the Rail is a storytelling platform that documents the heart of electronic music culture through people centered photography and community narratives. My work highlights the real moments, connections and emotions that happen within crowds, beyond trends or influencer content. As a queer Latina shaped by this community, I’m also committed to honoring the creators who built house, techno and electronic music as we know it today. This means capturing the stories, artistry and legacy of Black, Brown and queer innovators whose contributions deserve visibility and respect. My goal is to document not only the present-day rave experience, but the cultural roots that make this scene powerful. I want my audience to understand where this music comes from, who shaped it and why preserving these stories matters.
Why we exist
The EDM scene is expanding quickly and becoming commercialized. As it grows, the origins are often overlooked or rewritten. My goal is to create a platform that documents the real culture through interviews, photography and community based storytelling. I highlight POC and queer DJs, performers, dancers and festival attendees. I also focus on the traditions that built this community such as Kandi trading, flow arts, PLUR values and the friendships that keep the culture alive. This is preservation work. It protects the history that made this scene possible.
photography with purpose, stories with heart
What we create
Every photo, every interview, every project is designed to capture the humanity beneath the lights. Our photography series, Souls of the Sound, shines a spotlight on the faces, environments and connections that define rave culture. Our written features and community submissions dig deeper by exploring themes of identity, belonging, nostalgia, growth and the healing power of music. This is storytelling that doesn’t just document the scene; it honors it.
What we stand for
PLUR: pEACE, LOVE, UNITY, RESPECT
Beyond the Rail is rooted in inclusivity and the belief that rave culture is a place where people from every walk of life can been seen. We center marginalized voices, honor personal transformations and uplift the community through representation and authenticity. The goal is to build a space where ravers can connect, feel understood and keep the spirit of unity alive. Both on and off the dance floor.
